Ecoworks operates a localised fresh vegetable delivery service. Fruit and vegetables are grown by Ecoworks on their market garden on the Heritage site of St Ann’s allotments, as well as sourcing local produce from a network of growers.
Ecoworks chose heavy duty reusable bags, as a sustainable alternative to carrier bags, for the delivery of their produce. All fresh produce was delivered in single plastic carrier bags with the customer’s name written on the carrier. Now each customer receives their weekly bag of goodies in the heavy duty reusable bag, which is then handed back and returned the following week. In turn they receive a newly filled bag with fresh fruit and vegetables, and so the process continues.
A simple win/win situation with greater admin and delivery efficiency for Ecoworks and the environmental benefits of the reduction of single use carrier bags.
